Bike DC

This evening Cheri and I took a nice little bike tour around the city. It was a mix of dodging rush hour traffic and meandering through the city’s green spaces while trying not to run over any of the groups of 8th graders in their matching brightly colored shirts.

We stopped to see the Capitol Building, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, the Potomac riverfront, and a bicycle shop in Georgetown. I’ve been commuting to work by bike all week and have been enjoying the extra sunshine over the underground metro route.

I put the old G.Ride (it’s rollin’ on dubs, get it?) back in service after 5 years of gathering dust and rust in the back corner of dad’s boats storage shed.  The name is fitting for some of the nighborhoods I ride it though.  We’ll see how long I can keep up the commute as the summer temps set in.

Tomorrow we head to western Maryland for the Cranky Monkey 9-hour mountain bike race with a big group of friends. Wish us luck!
