We had a ton of family in to celebrate Elli’s first year of life. Both sets of grandparents and Elli’s Great Grandma & Grandpa Newell made the trek to MD. It was really nice to have so many from out of town to celebrate with us. And there are so many reasons to celebrate: she has learned some sign language (milk, eat, and more) and is saying five words: Mama, Dada, baby, ball, and dog. If you ask her to point to Mama’s nose, she does. (She will also point to Dada’s nose, but not to her own.) She has starting walking, though I think she still prefers to crawl because it’s faster.
Her birthday party was held at our house. It was an elephant (or rather Elli-phant) theme complete with an elephant cake (thanks to Grandpa Stader!), elephant cookies (thanks Grandma Stader!), and dress I bought from Etsy. We had lots of good food including bison (thanks to G&G Withers!) & Level Beef burgers; pasta salad; humus, cucumber & pita; and this amazing mozzarella, avocado, tomato, and basil on brochette (a recipe I found on pinterest).
We had a slide, pool, and water table set up out back. Elli really loved playing with all of her older friends especially in the pool.
Speaking of the things she loved… Check out the picture of her eating her cupcake. Do you think she liked it?
And of course, there were many presents. This girl is sooooo spoiled!
A pretty awesome way to cap off the one year mark. Here’s to many, many more!
