The blog has been neglected for a few months, so it’s time to play catch up.
My brother was stateside for a week in September and it was great to see him outside the cold and snow of his usual christmas visit. He came to Maryland via NYC and Mom and Dad drove out from Ohio. We spent a few days at our house doing granddaughter type things as well as pouring some stout concrete footers for our new deck. Before we even got the tools out Dad slipped on the wet grassy hill (more like a cliff) in my backyard and broke his wrist. He didn’t know it was broken until later in the day after helping with the pour and lifting lots of heavy stuff. He’s a tough old man!
Following that we all drove to Deep Creek Lake in far Western Maryland where we rented a house on the waterfront. We enjoyed some day hikes and Elli got to experience her first boat ride, which she seemed to like. From there we all headed for our respective homes and look forward to the Christmas reunion just around the corner.
I travelled to San Francisco for work the first week of October. It was my first time in California and it was fun to be in the city center for a few days. The public transit conference I was attending issued everyone a free pass for all the SF transit modes so I got to experience riding the old street cars, cable cars, and ferries around town.
Last weekend Cheri, Elli, and I travelled to Ohio to meet Elli’s new cousin and visit with extended family. It was a short but fun stay and little Brayden seems stout and healthy (and very cute!).
Wednesday was our 4-year wedding anniversary. I can say with a smile that it has seemed like a lot longer than that!
Happy to see Fall’s arrival,
