Profuse apologies for the blog hiatus. It’s been too long since my last post. We are still living the mid atlantic dream here and have been keeping busy.
In late January my wonderful mother visited and watched Elliott for 5 days while Cheri and I made a getaway to Jackson, Wyoming for some skiing and fun. We spent 3 days downhill skiing at Jackson Hole and a day cross country skiing in Grand Teton National Park. The snow was plentiful and we had a wonderful time. Returned home plenty sore too, on account of all the great skiing.
In February we started renovating the kitchen. I replaced the cabinet doors and drawer fronts with something a little closer to our taste and they will be painted white. The prior owner had a thing for faux-victorian and beige-colored finishings. The old dishwasher that sounded like a jet engine was replaced and there is a soffit-ectomy ongoing. Right now it looks like this:
We had some old friends visit from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in early March. Elli was ecstatic to have some live-in friends for a week.
The deck I started in the fall is nearing completion. A few weeks ago it was warm enough to stain the railing structure and get the cables installed, so now we can use it without fear of falling to our deaths. We’ve had a few dinners out there and are finding it to be an enjoyable space, up in the trees. I just have to stain the staircase and then have the county inspector back out with a plate of cookies near by.
Elliott just wrapped up her 6th weekly swim lesson and is inundated with Easter themed activities at daycare this week. She has recently taken to wearing underwear on her head at bedtime. I’m not sure what to make of that? Hope everyone is well — Jared
