Refinishing Our Floors

After we finished the floors in the kitchen, we knew finishing the floors in the rest of the house was not far off.  We decided to take advantage of the rare five day vacation (over the 4th of July) where we did not have a single obligation.  We moved everything out of our house and into the garage or basement, then sanded the entire house.  We used one coat of pecan, then two coats of high gloss clear floor finish.  Here is Jared putting on the first coat.

The first day was really long, but the second and third coats went on pretty quickly in the days that followed.  Kari was gracious enough to let us stay at her townhouse while we completed this project.  We did a lot of reading and relaxing…. A nice change of pace!  We did make one road trip up to Philadelphia since neither of us had been there before.  Jared also wanted to check out a well known guy who owns a business called Vintage Instruments.  Here’s me posing at the Liberty Bell.

The floors finally cured and we’ve moved back in.  Here’s a picture of the floors after we were all done.

 

Good stuff!  Can I just say it’s sooo much easier to clean floors with finish on them!  Love it!
